In a momentous development for India’s aviation industry, the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) achieved a significant milestone with a successful trial landing on Friday. An Indian Air Force C-295 aircraft touched down on the airport’s newly constructed runway, accompanied by a dramatic flypast of a Sukhoi-30 fighter jet. The event marked the first landing at the site, a precursor to the airport’s anticipated operational status by March 2025.
The trial landing, which occurred around 12:15 PM, was witnessed by Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. Several other key political figures, including Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), were also present to celebrate this achievement.
